25 Years in the Making...This is Our Story

Coy spent many years working in the auto body industry. He worked for M&M Auto Reconditioning before setting out to open J&S Auto Body. Phillip had followed in his father’s footsteps by beginning his auto body career right out of high school.

March 2019, we celebrate 25 years of business for J&S Auto Body. When they first got started, they worked mostly on rental vehicles. At the time, DIA had just been built and Coy had a strong relationship with many of the car rental agencies at the airport.

Many restoration projects for customers also rolled in and out of the shop over the years. Coy and Phillip shared the same interest in restoring old cars. Coy had many of his own restoration projects over the years as their kids grew up. Kenny, their middle son also followed suit and went into the auto mechanics field, learning so much from his dad through the years of helping rebuild old cars. Kenny owned and operated his own mechanic business until his passing in 2018.

Coy was able to take his life’s hobby and turn it into a successful business with the help and support of his family and friends. Craig Ruppel, a longtime friend of Phillip’s has been through it all as an employee for 24 years. Just as Coy had planned it, Craig has been a huge part of the success of J&S Auto Body. Coy was always willing and able to employ family and friends when in need and teach those that had the desire of learning the auto body trade. Coy has employed many nephews and most of his grandchildren over the years.

The business's early success was mainly due to the rental car business but over the years Coy became more involved in the community and built relationships with other local businesses such as Brighton Ford who has been a longtime customer. J&S Auto Body quickly became well known and had a great reputation in the community. Thanks to our amazing customer referrals, the BBB and social media, J&S Auto Body has become a trustworthy and reliable repair facility striving to maintain customer satisfaction with every car that comes through our doors.

In September 2018, Coy Livingston passed away suddenly. He left behind the legacy that we call J&S Auto Body. Coy was a compassionate man with a dream to have a successful career providing the opportunity of reliable employment for his family and friends. Coy taught us all that we work smarter, not harder. He said, “get up every day, go to work, work hard and love even harder.”

We will forever be grateful for this man, his wisdom, his love and the strength of his handshake. We thank every single one of our customers and the community for their support through the years. We hope you had the privilege of meeting the man behind the success, the reason we are who we are, 25 years later. J&S Auto Body will be forever grateful for the determination and drive all these years by the man we called Papa. We are far from done with our journey and have much more to offer. Bring on 2019!

In 1994, Coy and Sharon Livingston opened the doors to J & S Auto Body, Inc. and had dreams of making it the premiere auto body repair shop in Brighton, Co. For many years, while they raised their children, Coy worked for Hertz Rent-a-Car specializing in Frame Repair. Their son, Phillip Livingston, followed in Coy’s footsteps and built a career in auto body repair. And in 1994, together, they opened up shop!

Since then, they have made it their mission to provide the best auto body service to their community and the surrounding areas. With more than 60 years of combined experience and a multitude of specialized skills, there is nothing that J & S Auto Body Inc., can not tackle!

It is with great sadness that we announce that our owner, Coy, passed away on September 23, 2018. He was a successful business owner in Brighton Colorado for more than 25 years and he will be greatly missed by his family and the community. The business will continue under the leadership of his son Phillip Livingston. If you would like to read his obituary you can view it here.
